Civil litigation can be very expensive for an individual or a small or medium-sized business.  In addition, many business owners and individuals do not adequately consider the time, distraction, and stress involved in high-stakes litigation.  Having an experienced litigator like Scott handle your matter increases the likelihood that a creative and cost-effective resolution can be found, and that, if no such resolution is available, your interests will be well-protected in court.

Scott has extensive experience in civil litigation of all types, from business disputes, real estate litigation, construction litigation, franchise disputes, landlord/tenant matters, mediation and arbitration, to contract disputes, employment matters, covenants not-to-compete, and business debt collection.  Scott has particular experience in business tort cases, including those involving intentional or negligent fraudulent conduct and civil conspiracy allegations, and shareholder and other business ownership disputes.

He also represents businesses and individuals facing government or regulatory investigations, and he represents clients before administrative tribunals such as the federal Department of Labor, the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry, various boards established under the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and similar regulatory bodies.

Scott is admitted to all state and federal trial and appeals courts in Virginia, and he also serves as local counsel to out-of-state law firms with a matter pending in a Virginia court.
